Remembering Those Lost to Domestic Violence in 2012

The Utah Domestic Violence Council invites you to remember those who lost their lives as a result of domestic violence in the last 12 months in our state.

Please join us on 2nd January 2013 at the State Capitol Building in the Rotunda area at 12 pm. We welcome members from all communities and faith groups to reflect on an issue which cuts across all cultural and spiritual divides and which we must come together to address.

The Executive Director of the Utah Domestic Violence Council will release this year’s annual report into domestic violence related deaths and speak as to the impact of domestic violence. We hope to be joined by leaders of a number of faith communities who will also speak.

We are pleased to announce that there will also be a special performance of the song written to honor the missing West Valley mother of two, Susan Cox Powell, and her two sons, Charlie and Braden, who were tragically killed by their father in February this year. The song, “Susan’s song: A Dream Away”, will be performed by the locally based singer Jessie Funk who has attracted national recognition touring with the Broadway musical, Footloose, and performed as the opening act for Donny Osmond among others.
