July 11 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm UTC+0

Free

UDVC is thrilled to announce a partnership with Spencer Murray at No Harm for our upcoming 3-part training series. This series takes a holistic approach to ending gender-based violence, focusing on examining trauma, fostering wholeness, and exploring transformative intervention methods. The aim is to broaden our perspective on victim services, and I am excited to embark on this learning journey with you!

Session 2:
A Conflict Transformation Approach to Intervention
The movement to end violence against women is increasingly questioning the effectiveness of the criminal legal system’s punitive approach to safety and its capacity to restore wholeness to those harmed. This training will explore a conflict transformation approach, grounded in restorative justice principles. It focuses on centering the needs of the harmed, ensuring accountability that aims to prevent reoffending, engaging the community in mending harms, and addressing the context of crimes against women.
Objectives:
● Identify the differences between retributive justice and restorative justice
and the limits and advantages of each.
● Describe how the recognition of intersectional identities serves to address
the context crimes against women.
● Recognize the difference between conflict transformation and conflict
resolution/management, in the movement to end violence.
Intended audience: Advocates and DV treatment providers!
