The Survivor Stroll
October 9 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm MDT
In the 1920s, domestic violence was largely hidden behind closed doors-rarely discussed publicly, rarely recognized as a community issue, and too often treated as a private matter. Women had few legal, financial, or social protections, and speaking openly about abuse could carry enormous consequences. The Survivor Stroll invites participants to walk through nearly a century of change.
Along the route, artwork and messages explore how our understanding of domestic violence has evolved-from silence and stigma to advocacy, awareness, resources, and survivor-centered support.
We begin in a time when abuse was hidden. We move through decades of changing attitudes and hard-won progress. And we arrive in the present-where survivors are speaking, communities are listening, and people are working toward a future free from violence.
